At Ellington Middle School, we believe that the purpose of grading is to provide students, parents, and teachers with feedback on how well students are meeting academic standards and curriculum goals. An effective grading system offers valuable information to students, parents, and teachers about:

• How well a student is meeting the academic standards for the course/subject;
• How a student’s work habits and study skills impact their performance in meeting those standards;
• How and where a student can grow to strengthen their skills on both academic goals and work habits.
